Maryville & Knoxville Newborn Photographer
Because your baby is only this tiny for about five minutes.
One day you'll miss the way they fit perfectly on your chest.
Not in a dramatic "don't blink or you'll miss it" kind of way. More in a "wait... when did they get so big?" kind of way.
Those first few weeks are a blur of coffee, laundry, feeding schedules you can't remember, and staring at your baby for no reason other than they're ridiculously cute.
That's what I want to photograph.
Not perfection.
Not a baby who sleeps on command.
Not a house that looks like a Pinterest board.
Just your family exactly as you are right now.
So... what if my baby cries the whole time?
Then we take photos of a baby who cries.
Seriously.
I've yet to meet a newborn who showed up with a modeling contract and a detailed understanding of my shot list.
We'll stop for feedings, diaper changes, outfit changes, snack breaks for siblings, and whatever else needs to happen. The session follows your baby, not the other way around.
What does a newborn session actually look like?
Honestly? Pretty relaxed.
We'll hang out in the brightest rooms of your home, snuggle the baby, let older siblings be themselves, and capture all those little moments you don't realize you'll miss someday. No rush. No props you have to return. Just your family, your space, and real life as it actually looks right now.
The way their fingers wrap around yours.
The fuzzy hair on their shoulders.
The way your toddler is obsessed with their new baby brother for exactly three minutes before running away.
The good stuff.
When should I book?
The best time is while you're still pregnant.
The best time is while you're still pregnant. Book your newborn session before baby arrives, and we'll pencil in your due date.
Once they make their grand entrance, we'll lock in the actual session day. Whether baby arrives early, late, or completely ignores everyone's plans, we'll make it work.

You don't need matching outfits.
You don't need a spotless house.
You just need to show up.
I'll take care of the rest.
Where Can We Take Your Newborn Photos?
Most newborn sessions take place indoors, where baby can stay warm and comfortable and we don't have to worry about Tennessee weather doing whatever it feels like that day. But indoor doesn't have to mean just one look.
From your own home to beautiful Knoxville studios and historic spaces, we'll choose a location that fits the style you want for your newborn photos. Outdoor sessions are also an option when the weather is comfortable for baby.
Your Home
For those first few weeks, sometimes the best location is the one that doesn't require packing a diaper bag at all.
In-home newborn photography in Maryville, Knoxville, and surrounding East Tennessee areas gives us a relaxed, personal setting for your photos. We can use the nursery, bedroom, living room, or simply follow the best natural light in your home.
And no, your house doesn't need to look like it belongs in a magazine. I promise.
The Holmstead Studio | Knoxville, TN
If you want an indoor newborn session but prefer a studio setting, The Holmstead Studio in Knoxville is one of my favorite options.
Its bright natural light, neutral colors, and beautiful indoor spaces work perfectly for soft, timeless newborn photos. There's also plenty of room for parents and siblings to join in.
Bleak House | Knoxville, TN
For something with a little more character, Bleak House in Knoxville gives us a beautiful indoor option with historic architecture, large windows, and elegant rooms.
It's a great choice if you want your newborn and family photos to feel a little more elevated while still keeping everything natural and relaxed.
Other Knoxville & Maryville Photography Studios
Have a specific look in mind? We aren't limited to just one studio.
There are several photography studios in Knoxville, Maryville, and the surrounding East Tennessee area that can be rented for newborn sessions. We can choose a space based on the style you're drawn to, whether that's bright and minimal, cozy and home-like, modern, or something with a little more personality.
Knoxville Botanical Garden
Newborn photos don't have to stay indoors! When temperatures are comfortable, Knoxville Botanical Garden gives us beautiful greenery, gardens, and plenty of room for natural family photos.
This can be especially fun for families with older siblings who need a little space to move between photos.
Lakeshore Park | Knoxville, TN
For an open, natural East Tennessee look, Lakeshore Park gives us fields, trees, beautiful light, and distant mountain views.
Outdoor newborn sessions here are best during mild weather when we can keep your little one warm and comfortable throughout the session.
Indoor or Outdoor? We'll Find the Right Spot.
Most families choose an in-home or indoor newborn session, especially during those first few weeks, but there's no single location that works for everyone.
Your home, Bleak House, The Holmstead Studio, another local photography studio, or one of our beautiful outdoor locations around Maryville and Knoxville can all work. We'll choose the place that makes sense for your baby, your family, and the photos you want to create.
A Few Things Families Usually Ask (FAQ)
Q: When is the best time to schedule a newborn session?
A: Ideally between 5 and 14 days after birth, when babies are still sleepy and curly. Most families book during their second trimester so the due date is already on the calendar before things get busy.
Q: Do you come to our home?
Yep, every session is in your home. It just makes sense. You're not packing up a newborn and driving anywhere, and your space already feels like you, which makes for the best photos anyway.
Q: What if our baby won't stop crying?
Totally normal and not a problem at all. We'll pause for feedings, diaper changes, or whatever else needs to happen. There's no strict timeline here. We just go at the baby's pace.
Q: Do you bring props or outfits?
Yes! I keep a small collection of simple props and a few cute outfits on hand, and you're welcome to choose what fits your family's style. No need to buy or borrow anything. We'll figure it out together once you book.
Q: Do you photograph siblings and pets too?
Always. Big brothers, big sisters, the family dog who has no idea their world is about to change. They're all part of the story. Just let me know who's joining so I can plan for it.
Q: How many photos do we get?
The Mini Session comes with 15 edited images. The Full Session comes with 35 or more. Either way, your gallery is ready in 1 to 2 weeks.
